Sonntag's and my journey to Alaska in 2000 was my first real road camping trip. Here's what lead up to that trip.
Montag (my first dog) and I spent many weekends backpacking in the Shenandoah Mountains, which is where I scatter his ashes along Jeremey's Run.
Sonntag, Kessie and I took also took several backpacking trips in the Shenandoah Mountains, the last to scatter Montag's ashes there. From 1989 to 1999, the three of us mostly took winter trips to Mont Tremblant where we would spend our mornings cross county skiing and, in the afternoon, they would sit patiently in the front seats of my vehicle at the foot of the mountain near the ski lift waiting for me to visit with them after each run.
